This programme is for doctors practising or intending to practise in developing countries. It provides a critical understanding of the evidence for the control and management of diseases in childhood, with particular reference to endemic diseases in tropical countries.
Students will develop their ability to appraise the evidence that underlies current practice, to undertake research, and to lead improvements in the quality of health services delivered to children in both hospital and community settings.

I had one of the best years of my life doing the MSc. I met some amazing and passionate colleagues, and some inspirational and experienced teachers. Some of the LSTM staff have continued on to be a mentor to me in my research over half a decade later so these connections cannot be underestimated. Neither can the friendships of my colleagues. The best thing about the MSc was the overseas research project. I really cannot stress how actually doing the whole process from concept, to ethics, to designing consent forms and executing and analysing things was just brilliant.
