Course content

Our MSc Transportation Planning and Engineering (Behaviour) explores the relationships between transport systems, the people who use and operate them, and the wider world. You will study modules covering human factors in transport engineering, and the interactions between transport, energy systems, and the environment.

This MSc is appropriate for students interested in a career in the transport industry. The behaviour pathway - differentiated through the compulsory study of transport, energy and the environment, and human factors in engineering - is suitable for graduates from a range of disciplinary backgrounds.

Introducing your degree

Our programmes in transportation planning and engineering are ideal for graduates interested in a career in transport, and for professionals employed in the transport sector who want to expand their skills and knowledge. Our courses offer a range of modules under three specialist themes, allowing you to focus on your particular interests and develop skills required for work in this sector. You will benefit from an overnight field trip and from undertaking an independent research project.

Lectures take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week – allowing the course to be undertaken on a part-time basis over 2 years, with attendance on one day each week. The course includes a 2 day residential field trip which in the past has featured behind-the-scenes site visits, museum trips, and a 'transport challenge' competition.
