The collaborative specialization in Toxicology is the focal point for graduate teaching and research in toxicology. Students wishing to undertake graduate studies at the MSc or PhD level with emphasis on toxicology will be admitted by a participating department and will register in both the participating department and in the collaborative specialization in Toxicology.

Students can work with faculty members within ten separate departments and undertake research in areas such as: role of oxidative stress in Alzheimer disease, DNA damage by chemical carcinogens, regulation of drug metabolizing enzymes, biodegradation of environmental pollutants, risk assessment of pesticides and pesticide screening by antibody development, insect resistance to insecticides, metal contamination of soils and toxicity to plants.

Many of the graduates of the Toxicology specialization have engaged in successful careers in government, private sectors, as consultants, industry leaders and as academics.
