Course content

Our programmes will advance your knowledge, understanding and skills in a particular specialism through a sustained process of research, creative practice and/or critical reflection. They will help prepare you for a variety of career opportunities from academic research to professional practice. You will work intensively on a creative project of your own choosing, whether in Screenwriting, Filmmaking, Interactive Media or Theatre, supported and guided by an academic supervisor. You will also have access to appropriate research, technical and other resources to help produce projects of high quality. Our staff and external networks will provide access to working professionals and you will learn everything you need to know about the current industry practice in your field.

Under the supervision of one or more staff members with expertise relevant to the project topic, students on the MA Research will produce: either an academic dissertation of 20000 words OR an academic dissertation of 12000 words and a piece of creative work. The dissertation must include a critical reflection on the relationship between the dissertation and the piece of creative work.
