Course content

Overview

If you're language graduate, a current ELT, EFL or TEFOL teacher, or the manager or director of a language school – our MA TESOL Leadership and Management Master's course will help you develop your career in a TESOL sector.

On this course, you'll learn about recent developments in the TESOL field, and improve your knowledge and understanding of leadership, management, language learning and teaching.

When you graduate, you'll have the skills and knowledge to progress to management and leadership jobs in the sector, either in your own country or abroad, or the option to continue on to doctoral research in teaching, management and related fields.

What you'll experience

On this course, you'll:

  • Learn the relationship between theory and effective practice in language teaching
  • Get the entrepreneurial skills needed to succeed in the field of educational management
  • Understand the needs of students from different backgrounds and levels of education

Work experience and career planning

We'll help you to identify internships, voluntary roles and opportunities that will complement your studies.

When you finish the course, our Careers and Employability service can help you find a job that puts your leadership and management skills to work.

After you leave the University, you can get help, advice and support for up to 5 years from our Careers and Employability service as you advance in your career.

Teaching​

Teaching takes place in our virtual learning environment, where you'll analyse arguments, contribute ideas and ask questions.

You'll also have access to a tutor, who will give guidance and support on an individual basis.

How you're assessed​

You'll be assessed through coursework, which will generally take the form of essays.

Careers and opportunities

When you graduate, you'll be qualified to work in TESOL management and leadership positions in both the private or public sectors.
