Course content

This program is designed to equip participants with an in-depth and up-to-date technical knowledge based on the latest topics in wireless systems, optical networking, broadband multimedia communications, and convergence protocols.

Program Objectives
Hong Kong is rapidly changing to a knowledge-based economy and telecommunications is playing a key role in this development. Because of the rapid introduction of new technologies in telecommunications, there is a need for telecommunication practitioners, technologists, and managers to upgrade themselves. This program is designed to equip participating students with an in-depth and up-to-date technical knowledge based on the latest topics in wireless systems, optical networking, broadband multimedia communications, and convergence protocols.

The MSc program in Telecommunications is a degree program designed for people with a Bachelor degree in science or engineering who are interested to acquire further in-depth knowledge in the field of telecommunication. The curriculum meets the HKUST requirements for granting the Master of Science degree.

Curriculum
Students are required to take 30 credits of specified courses to complete the MSc program.

* Student may take EESM 5900 for a maximum of 6 credits.

Subject to prior approval of the Program Director, students may take a maximum of 9 credits of coursework offered by other self-financing MSc programs, including:
-A maximum of 9 credits of EESM courses offered by the MSc program in Electronic Engineering, and the MSc program in IC Design Engineering, or
-A maximum of 3 credits of non-EESM courses.

The availability of courses offered by other self-financing MSc programs may be subject to quota limitations imposed by individual programs.

Facilities
Students can enjoy library support, computer support, sports facilities, and email account at no extra cost. Upon graduation, students could also apply for related alumni services.
