Sustainable tourism fights to meet present tourist market needs, avoiding impact on the environment and local culture preserving natural resources. Indeed, The School of Tourism and Sea Technology (ESTM) is in a significant geographical position where you can testimony and confirm this concerns. Two of the IPLEIRIA research groups are located at ESTM: GIRM_Marine Resources Research Group and GITUR_Tourism Research Group. This last one, together with ESTM, periodically organize the International Tourism Congress of Leiria and Oeste.
