With access to some of the UK's leading sports specialists and resources - from university sports teams to elite athletes - you will have the opportunity to provide therapy support on your placement, harnessing the experience and knowledge needed to be a successful sports therapist.
As well as building skills and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of injury alongside the management of rehabilitation, you will develop a further understanding of different aspects of research design. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however recent relevant work experience may also be considered. You may work as a sports therapist in a variety of settings, including sports teams, clinics, fitness clubs and education providers. Alternatively, you may choose to be self-employed working across different sectors of sport and leisure. Our course team includes tutors who engage with elite Olympic and professional athletes, international sports teams as well as local and University teams. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to work across the expertise of two of our University's faculties and maximise the specialist facilities available for both therapy and sport.
You can study flexibly over one or two years, and our placement opportunities offer a wide variety of different experiences, with links to one national professional sports teams, as well as volunteering opportunities.
