Drawing on academic and industry expertise from around the world, this course is designed to meet the sports events management requirements of organisations that bid for, and deliver, sporting fixtures of all sizes - from the Olympic Games to the Leeds Half Marathon.
You will address the challenges facing sports events managers, including the increasing pressure to meet the demands of global governing bodies, how to manage a volunteer workforce, secure appropriate sponsorship packages, reduce risks and ensure the health, safety and security of every stakeholder.
By developing the specialist knowledge and skills required, you will enhance your expertise to strategically plan and manage sporting events to the satisfaction of local and international stakeholders.
For International Students who want to improve their English and academic skills we offer a combined masters course with the MSc Sports Events Management. If you have an IELTS score of 5.0 or 5.5 you can study for two semesters before starting your postgraduate degree. Our University welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however recent relevant work experience may also be considered. Please note that for some of our professional courses all applicants will need to meet the specified entry criteria and in these cases work experience cannot be considered in lieu.

Nicola has several years' experience within the global events industry and continues to work in the Middle East and North Africa region to deliver CPD to future event managers of mega sports events in such emerging markets. She brings a wealth of expertise to her teaching and has been imparting such knowledge for nearly 10 years at the University. She published a book in 2014 on the sports events industry with colleagues from UKCEM entitled, 'Sports Events, Society and Culture'.
