About the course
This award develops your knowledge and critical understanding of key concepts and contemporary debates, enabling you to lead and co-ordinate SEN provision effectively in educational settings.
The PGCert in Special Educational Needs: Leading Effective and Inclusive Practice (National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination) is delivered online and completed within one academic year. It will enable existing and aspiring SENCos (who have completed an induction period) to develop the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to meet National College for Teaching and Leadership's (NCTL) learning outcomes for the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination.
Entry Requirements
Applicants for PGCert: National Award for SEN Co-ordination: Leading and Coordinating Inclusive Practice in SEN should have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS, EYTS or QTLS).
Applicants need to be a SENCo or an aspiring SENCo.
Applicants need to provide evidence that they have access to a context where they can complete the practical aspects required for completion of the National SENCo Award, and that they have the full support of the headteacher (or equivalent).
Applicants for PGCert: Leading Effective and Inclusive Practice in SEN should have:
2:2 undergraduate degree.
Applicants should have access to an appropriate setting and experience.
