Attracting the brightest minds from all over the world to create a community that is diverse, vibrant and multinational. SOAS University of London is a unique institution specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East across a broad set of subject disciplines within the arts, humanities and social sciences.
SOAS has been a great step-up for my career and I have really benefited from the knowledge I gained during my year of study there. Before being awarded a Stuart Wilson scholarship to read MA Southeast Asian studies, I was working with the British Embassy in Indonesia as political analyst. I wished to add to my professional experience a higher academic qualification and took courage to go to London to continue my studies. Not only does SOAS offer a first class education with top scholars in the field, it also offers a great professional and social network. Upon graduation, my professional career path was wide opened. The SOAS experience has taught me to be a specialist in different fields, not only politics, but also development, gender and migration, and good governance. At present, I am working with the United Nations World Food Programme as the government and external relations officer. SOAS encourages and motivates its student to believe in themselves, and that is exactly what I have done."
