Course content

Entry Requirements

You should:
• Be registered with NISCC as a qualified social worker• Be enrolled with the PQ Office
• Be engaged for at least 12 hours per week in a paid or voluntary capacity in a post in which core social work values underpin practice and which provides supervised opportunity to practice social work in a professional role
• Have the support of your employer or supervisor of voluntary work to undertake study (verification may be required)
• Have the agreement of your employer or supervisor of voluntary work that the work of the organisation can be presented in order to meet the requirements of the module
• Satisfy the University of Ulster and the PQ Office of your ability to undertake study at postgraduate degree level by holding one of the following:
• a second class honours degree (or higher) in social work
• an equivalent standard (normally 50%) in a graduate certificate or graduate diploma in social work
• a postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma or an approved alternative qualification in social work

Course Description

This part-time course is suitable for qualified social workers at various stages of a social work career (including undertaking practice, management, training and regulatory roles) and employed in any setting.

Modules are grouped together into ‘programmes’ such as:

• Initial Professional Development
• Practice Teaching
• Reminiscence
• Research Methods
• Individual Assessment Route.
