About the course

The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Secondary Chemistry with Science is a one-year course that leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You'll train to become a Chemistry with Science teacher for the secondary age range (11-16). You'll gain 60 academic credits at master's level as part of the course.

Entry Requirements

An undergraduate honours degree, or a recognised equivalent qualification. This is typically 2:2 or higher.

A substantial amount (at least 50%) of your degree should be in a subject related to what you want to teach. If you need to improve your subject knowledge, you may be asked to complete a Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) course before starting your PGCE (deadlines apply).

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent.
