You can study Research Methods for Health from anywhere in the world as it is delivered online by renowned researchers and teachers at University of Aberdeen. You gain exactly the same qualification from exactly the same people as you would if you studied on campus programmes but you can learn flexibly without leaving your country or county or work, whilst you deliver healthcare around the world. You can also manage your financial outlay by studying and paying as you learn. You only study the modules you are interested in. The programme is ideal if you want to improve your healthcare research skills or you have a particular interest you want to specialise in. You can choose to then provide research and widen your medical career options or you may decide to teach. If you have a health related honours degree or significant health care practise and or research this programme will provide you with the wide ranging research techniques which you can deploy to test out theories in any area of healthcare. If you want to study research whilst you work the PG Cert (Online) is an ideal way of doing this.
You look at research design, sampling, different types of statistics, different research methods such as evidence based methods, epidemiology, and analysis methods. You can learn easily online with several methods to help you understand the content of the programme which include podcasts, discussions online, links to websites, e-books and journals, blogs, and 'Live office hours' questions online, plus use of the virtual learning platform to support your studies. You are assessed by MCQ online tests, essays, presentations with peer review and you get immediate feedback. Aberdeen has been teaching medical science since its inauguration in 1495 and it is known for many innovations, some of which won Nobel Prizes such as the MRI scanner.
When you graduate you can work within research areas in health services, public sector organisations and charities or you may be able to advance your current role as you learn to improve your own healthcare workplace. Your research project may lead you into further learning, teaching or innovation or in policy and projects to reduce healthcare inequity. A PG Cert could lead on to MSc in Applied Health Sciences where you can specialise in substance abuse, health economics or sexual or reproductive health.
