The programme draws on a rich history of religious teaching at the university since 1495. It is designed to understand religion in its modern context in the West. You are taught by active international researchers and practitioners. Religion was recorded in the Palaeolithic period and during the Middle Ages as it started to be shaped and formed.

The University of Aberdeen MSc in Religion and Society provides a unique opportunity for postgraduate study in the sociology of religion. Taught by well-known leaders in the field, the programme provides students with study in both the sociological study of religion and training in advanced sociological methods. This programme is ideally suited for anyone considering the pursuit of doctoral studies in sociology of religion, and also provides a broad-base of social-scientific skills that are both marketable and useful for those pursuing careers either in government or in the third-sector.

The University offers you very beautiful facilities which include a chapel from the Middle Ages on campus along with services, ceremonies and guided tours and research archives built up since this time. The degree can be studied full time or part time and it allows you to combine it with your other work. Apart from work in the Ministry you can go on to work within Counselling, Researcher, and Teacher.
