Course lengths

Our full-time course runs for 12 months. This gives you time to achieve the recordable SCPHN qualification of School Nurse. You’ll also be given a further 16 months part-time study to complete the dissertation module and achieve the full MSc. This particular course needs to be completed within five years after you have registered.

Our part-time option for this course gives you 104 weeks, or 24 months, to achieve the recorded SCPHN qualification of Health Visitor or School Nurse. Once again, you’ll also be given an additional 16 months’ part-time study to finish the dissertation module which allows you to complete the full MSc.

Further course information

We’ve designed our course so that it meets the necessary requirements of the NMC for registering the qualification of Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN).

If you’ve completed the PG Diploma, 52 weeks full time and 104 part time, this meets the requirements you need to record your NMC qualification. You can also exit with a post-graduate diploma after 52 weeks or (104 weeks part time). Equally, you could also decide to continue for a further 16 months in order to complete the dissertation module and gain the full MSc.
