About the course

In response to the growing need for psychotherapy in the UK, we offer a course that provides the in-depth training and therapeutic approach a professional psychotherapist requires. If you already hold a postgraduate diploma in counselling or psychotherapy, then this one year top-up course gives you the opportunity to obtain a masters qualification by studying two research modules. 

You will be introduced to the appropriate methods of research in psychotherapy, and will use this knowledge to form a research proposal. You will then complete a dissertation on a subject area of your choice, but relating to psychotherapeutic practice. 

Providing a comprehensive grounding in the use of interpersonal and counselling skills, your course will also provide an advanced critical and reflexive

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally have a professional qualification recognised as being equivalent to a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling or Psychotherapy or Professional Training at Postgraduate level in Clinical Supervision and a relevant degree. Applicants are asked to complete a research topic proposal and submit this with their application. All suitable candidates, unless progressing from the Postgraduate Diploma Counselling & Psychotherapy at Leeds Beckett University, will be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process.
