Course content

MPhil research requires a thirst for knowledge and a passion for research.

If you are interested in full or part time study for MPhil and PhD degrees in psychology we welcome an application from inquisitive and dedicated students.

Here at the University of Greenwich we carry out high quality scientific research in psychology that moves theory forward while informing applied settings.

During your time with us, you will develop, create and interpret new knowledge in the subject of psychology. This will be through original research or other advanced scholarship of a quality to satisfy peer review. Your research will aim to extend the forefront of the discipline, and merit publication.

MPhil and PhD options

You will initially enrol onto the MPhil degree. After completing the first year of the MPhil, your progress will be reviewed. Upon satisfactory review, you will be given the option to then transfer to the PhD for a further two to three years of research.

Should you not wish to continue on to PhD studies however, you may write up and submit your work to be considered for an MPhil degree.

Research supervision

Throughout your time with us, we will provide you with three supervisors who will guide you through your research period and support your studies.

Our graduates from this programme pursue careers in research as well as teaching in further and higher education and other opportunities in both public and private sectors.

Students are assessed through their thesis and viva.
