The University offers a whole range of work-based learning awards at undergraduate and postgraduate levels through its innovative and multi-award winning Professional Practice Framework.
The aim of the Professional Practice Framework is to provide student-centred learning opportunities that are accessible, flexible and inclusive. Above all, it is intended to meet the needs of both employers and employees. In all cases, academic study is combined with workplace learning to equip you with the relevant knowledge, understanding and skills to improve your performance at work and gain an academic qualification.
If you wish to gain an academic qualification in Professional Practice, you will work with a Programme Adviser who will give guidance and will work with you to develop a learning plan to achieve the credits needed towards your qualification aim. All qualifications require the completion of a Work-based Learning Project module. Alternatively, you could just opt to study a module that is relevant to your current development needs (see our course details pages for more information).
Each of our modules examines a topic through a combination of teaching sessions, independent study and research. Successful completion of a module earns credits at the appropriate level.
PGCert Professional Practice
You will be required to study 60 credits at level 7 to gain the award which combines academic study with workplace. You will work with a Programme Adviser to identify a coherent programme.
PGDip Professional Practice
The PG Diploma in Professional Practice builds upon the Certificate programme and also combines academic study with workplace. You will be required to study a further 60 credits at level 7 to gain the award of PG Diploma.
MA Professional Practice
The MA is awarded on the successful completion of 180 credits at level 7 which combines academic study with workplace. You will work with a Programme Adviser to identify a coherent programme.
