Professional Diploma in Education Mathematics

Course Description

The programme is a vehicle for training specialist mathematics teachers for Irish post-primary schools. It will facilitate an interactive and imaginative approach to teaching mathematics at post-primary level in order to enhance school students' mathematics learning and performance. Successful graduates will be competent to teach the new Project Maths curriculum at Junior and Senior cycles.

Entry Requirements

Candidates shall normally be required to hold a Level 8 degree (Hons 2.2 or above) having graduated (or about to graduate) from an undergraduate degree programme that is recognised by the Teaching Council for the purposes of pursuing a teaching qualification in mathematics at post-primary level. It is the responsibility of candidates to show evidence that they meet this requirement.Candidates may be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process.
