About the course
The School of Education at the University of Birmingham offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education (QTS) with the option to specialise in Early Years (3-7 years) or Primary (5-11 years). The programme also provides 120 credits towards an MA Teaching Studies. The course is designed in conjunction with our school based partnership and includes modules on safeguarding, mental health, relationships and sex education, pastoral care and inclusion.

Entry Requirements
All applicants to the Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education must hold a degree from a UK Higher Education Institution. Normally, this should be a 2:1 or above (and this will be a condition of any offer where the degree is not already awarded) although decisions are made on a case by case basis and a 2:2 may be accepted.
You must have a GCSE in Mathematics and English (Grade 4 or above*), or an equivalent qualification which must be attained prior to making an application.

Francesca Buckland
Having spent three years reading Philosophy at the University of Birmingham, Francesca graduated in 2015. She returned in September 2015 to complete her ITT (and ultimately, her MA in teaching studies). Involving herself in campus work via worklink, volunteering as a mentor within the Philosophy department and competing in BUCS alongside the Karate team, she has immersed herself within life at the University of Birmingham.
