About the course

If you aspire to become a Primary School Teacher, but wish to remain working, our Foundation Degree in Primary Education allows you to take the first step on your journey towards teacher training.

We will work with you to develop your skills and knowledge in supporting the development of children, building on your passion for teaching, creativity and for learning.

You will be able to stay in your current job, as a teaching assistant or other paraprofessionals working in a primary school, and gain a foundation degree qualification.

Foundation degrees are particularly appropriate for people returning to learning after a break or who have not followed a conventional route in gaining their existing qualifications.

The course does not confer Qualified Teacher Status but is a stepping-stone towards

Entry Requirements

- A relevant Level 3 qualification
- A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience
- Current employment as a teaching assistant in a primary school (for a minimum of 2.5 days a week)
- Support of your school or setting
- Someone to act as your mentor
