The Department of Politics at The New School for Social Research studies politics in creative and inventive ways. We emphasize the theoretical dimension of political analysis in both political explanation and normative evaluation. As an engaged, inclusive, and scholarly community in New York City, faculty and students explore historical and contemporary political constellations with rigor and enthusiasm.

Graduate degree applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited American college or university or the equivalent degree from a foreign college or university.
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are required of all applicants who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents who completed their bachelor's degree in 2014 or later. All applicants whose first language is not English must submit a valid TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE score. The minimum score required for TOEFL (IB) is 100, for IELTS is 7.0, and for PTE is 68.
