Your programme of study

If you enjoy research within politics and you want to know more about the different methods you can use to find out specific information internationally this programme will give you autonomy to do just that. Your skills are not only ideal for the political area of work but they are transferrable to a great many other areas of work including market research, economic research, different types of data collation within health, local government, business and many other organisations.  

This programme serves both as preparation for PhD research - by enhancing relevant general social science skills - and as a free standing programme in research methods training. Drawing on teaching skills available both within Politics and International Relations and from throughout the School of Social Science, the programme includes courses on: Qualitative Research Methodologies; Theories and Issues in Political Science and IR; Research Design and Data Collection, and; Quantitative Research Methodologies.
