Do you want to qualify as a primary teacher in Scotland? This qualification enables you to qualify as a teacher in 36 weeks if you have a degree from an education institution in the United Kingdom or equivalent from outside the United Kingdom. You are also required to have English and Mathematics.

This professional qualifying programme provides a PGDE initial teacher education to meet the latest demands of contemporary primary and nursery schools in Scotland. The aim of the programme is to produce adaptable, flexible teachers able to collaborate and cooperate with other professionals, ready to face challenges of teaching in the 21st century and commit to the notion of lifelong learning. You learn with both primary and secondary specialists to maximise your knowledge from experiences, debate current issues and enrich your experience before you start to teach.

You spend 18 weeks on campus and 18 weeks in the classroom with specific local authorities. Assessment is from two 5000 word assignments based on your professional development and school reports on your progress. We also offer a PGDE Primary Education programme which allows you to study at University during weekends and focus on classroom activities during the week. There are further teacher and lecturer training programmes and continued professional development postgraduate degrees which you may be interested in.
