Course description

PGCE Secondary (Spanish) will train you to teach Spanish across the 11 to 16 or 11 to 18 age range.

It will prepare you to teach the National Curriculum, GCSE and A-level.

Completion leads to a postgraduate qualification and recommendation for qualified teacher status (QTS).

University-based sessions will enable you to reflect on teaching methods.

Entry Requirements

Minimum 2:2 honours degree. If you are not a native Spanish speaker, approximately 50% or more of your degree content should have focused on Spanish.

A strong academic record at A-level (or equivalent), including French, German or Spanish.

You should also be able to speak a second language (French or German). If this is at beginners' level, you would be required to develop it through a funded Subject Knowledge Enhancement course, available at various institutions.

Minimum grade C or 4 at GCSE (or equivalent) in English language and mathematics.
