126.gif I started my modular PGCE at Goldsmiths in January 2008. I’d been deliberating about whether to do the PGCE since I’d graduated in 2005, and had done a TEFL level 4 in the meantime, as well as working in business sales for BT, and also spending a couple of months working as a press cutter. Fortunately, I got an interview with Goldsmiths through clearing in August 2008. Being able to do the course on a modular basis and start the following January was really helpful, because I was going to be moving from Cardiff; the extra six months bought me some time to get my life ‘in gear’.

Although I hadn’t planned to come to Goldsmiths, I’m very happy that this is where I’m doing my PGCE. It’s a highly esteemed educational establishment (people tend to respond very positively when I tell them where I’m doing my qualification), and it’s in a good location. The library and IT services are good, and there’s a lovely Mexican restaurant across the road!

Pursuing the modular option has been advantageous because I’m back and forth between London and Cardiff, and prefer doing my modules through distance learning. The course is stressful, though ultimately very rewarding, and Maggie Pitfield and all of the other tutors I have had contact with are encouraging and supportive. Good luck... I hope you choose what’s best for you:)
