PGCE - Secondary English with QTS

Manchester Metropolitan University    Faculty of Health & Education

Full time See Course PGCE 1 year full time

About the course

How do you encourage teenagers to read? What makes a poem come alive in the classroom? How can children remember grammatical rules?

You’ll learn how to teach both English language and literature, covering subjects such as media, drama, and phonics.

You’ll look at a variety of short texts and poetry – perhaps Shelagh Delaney’s play, A Taste of Honey, the poetry of John Agard or prose such as Conan Doyle’s The Sign of the Four – and you’ll focus on how you can turn literature into learning.
