We're looking for individuals with a passion and skillset for mathematics who want to help primary school children get enthusiastic about learning through maths. Our highly-rated PGCE course will give you the knowledge and skills to be an effective teacher, developing independent learning techniques and self-motivation that will be valuable throughout your career. We'll help you gain a commitment to supporting all children's mathematical development, with the ability to articulate, defend and amend your personal view of the role of maths in primary school.
This programme will give you 60 credits towards an MA in Education, furthering your study with incredible ease. Our highly-committed and effective tutors will support you in studying two modules at masters level, reflecting the very high standards achieved by students on this course. If you have a genuine willingness to explore the learning potential of maths across a range of mediums, then we're here to help you understand how children learn and understand mathematical concepts to improve your success as a teacher.
Over half the course will be spent working with children on an assessed placement, with school-based enrichment activities alongside your university-based study. You'll take three placements across a variety of schools and settings, building a wealth of experience to help advance your future career.

We're looking for those committed to being good teachers, not your advanced mathematical abilities, by developing those who wish to provide the ultimate maths experience to students.
This course can lead to a fulfilling career as a primary teacher. As this is a PGCE, it includes some work at masters level, leading to 40 credits that can count towards an MA in Education.
Other admission requirements
-A minimum 10 days experience in a mainstream UK Primary school covering Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 (five days in each Key Stage) gained within the last two years. -A satisfactory academic (university) reference AND a satisfactory professional reference if more than three years since academic study. -The ability to discriminate key ideas and express arguments. -All candidates must demonstrate professional suitability through interview and must obtain medical and enhanced DBS clearance according to established university procedures.
Normally a first degree, or its equivalent with a minimum of 2:2 honours. Three GCSEs at minimum grade C or above to include English language, mathematics and science (including biology, chemistry or physics). Successful completion of the QTS skills test in literacy and numeracy before the start of the course. See course description for further admission details.
