Outdated health policy risks the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. University of Glasgow understands the importance of this and has been teaching public health education since 1893. Over this time, we have been able to develop a programme that puts an emphasis on original research, psychosocial and international approaches to public health and, with our close ties to the NHS, we help develop the key skills needed for a successful career in public health.
This programme aims to promote health, prevent disease, reduce inequalities in health, and prolong life. The University of Glasgow places great pride and importance in our original research. It’s because of this that our faculty have been at the forefront of numerous recent public health interventions, including Scotland’s smoking ban.
Our overarching aim is to develop a unique pool of experts to lead public health, no matter if you are already a health professional looking for career advancement, or if you are looking to transition into this area. Our programme is multidisciplinary in focus, so regardless if you specialise in medicine or pharmecuitcals, you will benefit from studying alongside students from other courses and our close links to the NHS, giving you access to some of the country's leading authorities in public health and be able to follow in their footsteps.
Studying online means you don’t have to sacrifice your current career in order to pursue a new one. With industry-lead teaching and cutting-edge research, you’ll be able to study the entire programme without having to set foot on campus. You would be able to access our interactive resources from anywhere and at any time; this includes live seminars, audio, video, discussion areas, and more - whatever helps you achieve their career goals. Once you’ve started the programme, we won’t leave you to it. We’ll always be on hand to help you, all the way through to graduation.
Ranked 1st in the Russell Group for teaching (NSS 2018), the University of Glasgow offer a flexible programme that can be tailored to meet your specific requirements. Whether you want to study an MSc, a PgDip or a PgCert, or choose your duration of study between 1 and 6 years; at the University of Glasgow you can further your ambitions without compromising your current commitments.
