This course is open to applicants who hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting and School Nursing). You'll gain the skills and experience you need for full-time practice, and meet the Nursing and Midwifery Council's standards for such training. NHS sponsorship is required for full NMC recognition.

How you learn

Students who have achieved the Post Graduate Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting and School Nursing) can progress to the MSc Public Health by undertaking the MSc dissertation module. 

Applied learning

The modern and diverse placements are designed to meet the changing needs of children, young people and families, and may include work with social services, in education or with a variety of organisations from the voluntary sector. They foster collaborations with those that work alongside health visitors and school nurses.

Accreditation

This course is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Graduates are eligible to apply to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Health Visitor or School Nurse. 

You must be registered with the NMC in order to practise as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse in the UK.

To access the full course and gain the NMC recognised qualifications, you need to be sponsored by an employing NHS organisation (hence have NHS contract for the length of the course).
