This course can involve a research project in a real-world organisation, which will demand effective communication, negotiation and project management skills.
Recent research projects include a performance management project for a large organisation, working with a company in the insurance sector on change management, and a review of a law firm’s reward system.
If you’re not eligible for BPS membership, you can take the MSc Work Psychology. This degree is not recognised by the BPS but it will help you develop the skills you need for research and practice as an occupational psychologist.
The Institute of Work Psychology (IWP)
The IWP is an international centre for research in occupational and organisational psychology. As part of the Management School, its taught programmes are ideal for students who are considering careers in business consultancy, human resource management or organisational research.

Please note that not all combinations of elective modules may be possible because of timetabling.
How we teach
We teach management from a truly global perspective, and our courses are based on pioneering research into the challenges faced by businesses everywhere. We use a combination of lectures, seminars, case studies, group work for collaborative learning, and web-based discussion groups. You'll be assessed through Individual assignments, group projects, end-of-semester examinations and a dissertation.
We’ll teach you how to identify opportunities, solve problems and inspire others. Many of our teaching staff are world-class researchers working in policy-relevant areas. Our courses are based on their research. We also bring in guest speakers from business, local government and industry. You can apply to carry out a project with an external organisation as part of your course. We also offer you the chance to spend the summer at another university overseas.
