About the course
The MSc Sustainable Maritime Operations, awarded by the University of Plymouth, can be studied at PgCert, PgDip and Master’s levels.
Entry Requirements
A foundation degree (FdSc/HND) in a maritime related subject plus at least two years work experience as a senior officer (2nd officer and above) or a relevant undergraduate degree or Portfolio accreditation of Accredited Prior Learning (APL) and relevant work experience. The minimum English language requirements for this course at NQF 6 and above is: Plymouth University requirement: IELTS (Academic) Postgraduate programmes (level 7) overall 6.5, minimum component scores 5.5 in all four components (listening, reading, speaking and writing).

Scholarships
MLA College is pleased to announce it will be awarding a number of bursaries in 2020/2021 to applicants who have annual incomes of less than £25,000 (or equivalent). Bursaries will also be available for women (UK or non-UK residents) to support Women into Maritime and Women into Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM).
Each bursary awarded will be for the period of registration and the single payment of £500 will be made on completion of the initial enrolment process and payment of tuition fees, following the production of the required evidence. Please note this is not an annual award.
The available bursaries for successful applicants are in 3 categories:
6 bursaries of £500 for UK resident students over 25 years of age on enrolment
6 bursaries of £500 for non-UK resident students over 25 years of age on enrolment
6 bursaries of £500 for women over 25 years of age on enrolment who are UK or non-UK resident students
Eligibility to apply for a bursary:
Be enrolled/holding an unconditional offer (as confirmed by the relevant Programme Manager) on a MLA College Higher Education programme
Be paying the expected tuition fee, either in full or via an agreed instalment plan

Due to the success of our Women in Maritime Scholarship scheme we have decided to extend it for the September 2021 term.
Launched in March 2021 to support International Women’s Day, and to tackle gender inequalities in the sector, MLA College awarded all new female students enrolling onto the May 2021 term a £500 scholarship.
The scholarship, which comes in the form of a fee reduction, is available across all our degree programmes, and will continue to be awarded to all newly enrolling females starting their degrees in the September 2021 term.

The discount can be applied to any degree programme with MLA College, a full list of degrees can be viewed here. The discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or bursary, except the Women in Maritime.
The discount is a 10% fee reduction on the tuition fees for any degree programme offered by MLA College, subject to admissions criteria. The discount will be made within your offer letter when applying for your degree. Offer letters and discounts are valid for the term you have applied for. If you defer until a later term, fees may change.
The offer cannot be exchanged for cash.

Application Procedure
When applying for a degree you will need to make the Admissions Team aware that you wish to apply for the discount. You can do this by uploading one of the below documents to your online application:
A copy of your Armed Forces or Veteran ID Card
A copy of your Certificate of Service
A copy of your birth certificate (applicable for family members – please also include the ID or Certificate of Service for the family member that is or has served in the military).
