MSc Sustainable Automotive Engineering


Course Description

WMG has an established legacy of leading automotive research in close collaboration with industry. This degree provides a holistic understanding of the different technology options and methods for design, system integration, and verification that will drive the market introduction of new energy efficient vehicles.

Designed for

This course is ideally suited to those aspiring to become research managers and technology leaders within the strategically important areas of vehicle electrification and sustainability. You will have the management skills, technical awareness, and vision to assess different technology options within the context of environmental legislation and consumer expectations for vehicle quality, reliability, and performance.

The Course Provides

You will develop the skills to design and evaluate the next generation of automotive products that have a lower environmental impact than conventional vehicles. You will learn the latest innovations in research, technology management, and leadership that are pre-requisite for career progression within the international automotive industry.

Course Content

Core Modules:
1. Automotive Hybridisation and Electrification
2. Energy Storage and High Voltage Automotive Systems
3. Propulsion Technology for Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Applications
4. Lightweight Materials and Structures
5. Systems Modelling and Simulation

Plus four elective modules from the full list of modules, where there is a list of nine recommended modules to choose.

Learning Style

The taught component of the course consists of lectures, workshops, practicals, demonstrations, problem classess, syndicate exercises, and a review.

Module leaders are experts in their fields and are supported by external speakers working in organisations at the forefront of their fields.

Assessment is through post module assignment (PMA) rather than exam and is based on the learning objectives of each module. Your PMA should take around 60 hours of work and consolidate the knowledge you have gained from the module.

Industrial visits are available to all students and the course is assessed through assignments.

Each module will usually last one week.

After You Graduate

This programme has extensive industry support from national and international companies. As an SAE graduate, you can expect to take a leadership role with a vehicle manufacturer or specialist supplier. The programme is ideally suited to those aspiring to become research managers and technology leaders within the strategically important areas of vehicle electrification and sustainability.

WMG Latin America Bursaries - 20+ Awards

All students from Latin America applying for a WMG Masters Course to begin October 2016 will automatically be entitled to 20% tuition fee discount. Remainging tuition fees for Latin American students will be £17,872.For Mexico (in accordance with Warwick's agreement with CONACYT) all tuition fees for Mexican students studying on the full-time WMG MSc Programmes will be reduced by 25%. Fees for Mexican students will be £16,755.

WMG Masters Scholarships - 20+ Awards

WMG will be awarding up to £500,000 in scholarships and bursaries to students commencing study on our full-time MSc programmes beginning in October 2016.Up to 50 scholarships will be awarded on a % discount of the tuition fees:15 x 50%

20 x 20%Scholarships are available on a competitive basis and students will automatically be considered upon application and receiving an offer for a WMG full-time MSc course.Eligibility• All applicants receiving an offer to study on a WMG Full-time MSc course that runs in the UK, starting October 2016, will be assessed for the WMG Excellence Scholarship.
• Applicants should have an excellent academic track-record. The WMG Scholarship committee will be reviewing both the academic achievement (usually the equivalent of a British 1st Class Honours Degree) and Statement of Purpose when awarding.
• Students will be automatically considered for the WMG Excellence Scholarships when submitting their application for a WMG full-time MSc course.
• For conditional offer-holders, scholarship awards will also be conditional on achieving the awardee's final predicted grade.
• WMG Excellence Scholarships are for self-funded students only. NB: students with partial bursaries on scholarship-loan schemes or partially funded by an external organisation may be considered. Awardees should inform the scholarship committee if they are in receipt of another scholarship or are later awarded other funding.
• WMG Excellence Scholarships are awarded for study on UK Full-time MSc Programmes only.
• WMG Excellence Scholarships are paid towards tuition fees only and cannot be paid in cash or towards accommodation or maintenance costs.

Eligibility

WMG Excellence Scholarships are available on a competitive basis. Awards will be based on past academic achievement, previous experience, extracurricular activities, reasons for study, and your vision for the future.
Students will automatically be considered for the awards when submitting an application for a WMG full-time MSc course.Up to a total of 50 WMG Excellence Scholarships will be awarded on a % discount of the tuition fees. Awards will range from 20% to 50% fee discount with the maximum award possible being 50% discount.Please see further details for eligibility.

2:2 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Computer Science. English Language Requirement- IELTS 6.5 (or IELTS 6.0 + pre-sessional)
