Designed for students aspiring to senior management positions within structural engineering design practice, this course focuses on applying engineering principles in advanced materials behaviour and technical themes within structural engineering.
It aims to enable students from (but not limited to) BSc undergraduate degrees to develop and enhance their technical skills, offering a content consisting predominantly of technically based modules. Completion of the course can lead to Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
This degree is accredited as meeting the JBM requirements for Further Learning for a Chartered Engineer (CEng) for candidates who have already acquired an Accredited CEng (Partial) BEng (Hons) or an Accredited IEng (Full) BEng/BSc (Hons) undergraduate degree.
The JBM consists of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CHIT) and the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE).
The course is also accredited by the Engineering Council. This accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by the Engineering Council in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC).
