MSc/PgDip/PgCert Health and Social Care Leadership

Course Description

This course is specifically designed to support you to develop leadership and management capabilities that will take you to the next level of your career.

As a student on one of our unique programmes you maximise your learning by engaging in real world assignments. All course assignments centre on service delivery and improvement, giving you the opportunity to actively display and practice leadership. This means that you not only gain enhanced knowledge of evidence-based management and leadership theories, but also develop the practical skills required to lead more effectively in the workplace.

Through engaging in learning and assessment tasks you have the opportunity to actively improve service delivery throughout the programme by:
-Solving organisational problems.
-Developing service provision.
-Strengthening teamwork.
-Enhancing motivation, commitment and effort.
-Improving service user outcomes.

Course structure

Part time – typically 3 years. You attend 12 days a year on average. Typically, you complete the Postgraduate Certificate in the first year, the Postgraduate Diploma in the second year and MSc dissertation in the final year. Starts September.

-Real world enquiry for leaders (15 credits)

-Dissertation for leadership in health and social care professions (60 credits)

Assessment: most assessment involves work-based assignments.

Entry Requirements

Applicants normally have: management responsibilities for people, resources, systems and/or areas of service development; a degree level qualification or the professional equivalent; experience in managing people; two to three years of work experience. Members of the course team are able to meet with you to discuss your module choices.
