About the course
This course is intended to introduce graduates in mathematics to current ideas and methods at the forefront of modern mathematical research. The topics vary from year to year, but include modules in analysis, algebra, and geometry.
Course Structure
Students will typically attend at least 10 lectures per week during the regular academic year, and give presentations on advanced mathematical topics to the class. During the summer, they will prepare a research project under the guidance of a supervisor.
Course Duration: 1 Year Full Time
Entry Requirements
Normally a 1st class honours BSc/BA in Pure Mathematics, or equivalent.
Applicants must have a recognised primary degree which is considered equivalent to Irish university primary degree level.

These postgraduate scholarships for Masters study are funded with the support of the Alumni Affinity Card and provide graduates of Maynooth University (including the graduating class of 2017) with a €5,000 scholarship towards fees for a full-time Taught Masters programme at Maynooth University.

Eligibility
Applicants must intend to pursue a
full-time Taught Master’s degree at the University commencing meet the following eligibility criteria:
1. A minimum overall result of 65% in an Honours Bachelor’s degree from
Maynooth University. Applicants should apply before they receive
their exam results.
2. Satisfy the entry requirements of the Maynooth University Taught Master’s
Programme they intend to undertake.
The scholarship is not open to those who have already commenced or have previously
undertaken a Master’s programme.
A minimum 65% honours level 8 undergraduate degree result and a personal statement is required.

If an applicant has not been in receipt of a student grant for the final year of their undergraduate honours degree, this will not affect the assessment of their application. Applicants must also declare their acceptance of the scheme’s terms and conditions in this section. Taught Master’s Access Scholarship All applicants must indicate whether they wish to be considered for the taught master’s scholarship allocated under the Maynooth Access Programme. Please note this section is only relevant to the Taught Master’s Scholarship of €2,000 applications and to students currently registered with the
Maynooth University Access Office. It is not
considered for Alumni Scholarship applications. If
this section is not completed it is assumed that the
applicant does not wish to be considered.
Recommendations Recommendations are not required for Taught
Master’s Scholarship applications. References
provided will not be considered.
