MSc Investment Management


Course Description

Our MSc Investment Management programme aims to provide key investment knowledge with an industry focus.

The programme includes a specialised course that sees senior investment practitioners come in each week to give guest lectures which not only provide insight into the investment industry, but allow you gain real world understanding of the knowledge and theories you are studying.

Semester 1

Capital Markets
Portfolio Management

plus one from:

• Corporate Governance

and one from:
• Financial Analysis
• International Accounting Standards

Semester 2

Current Topics in Investment Management
Research Methods

and two from:
• Comparative Financial Reporting
• Derivatives
• Emerging Financial Markets
• Modern Portfolio Theory
• Research in Finance

Successful completion of the two taught semesters will allow you to progress to the MSc dissertation which is started in May and is submitted by the end of August.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should hold a good (first or second class) Honours degree or its non-UK equivalent in a relevant subject from a recognised British or overseas university. No investment management experience is required but some prior knowledge of finance and/or accounting would be an advantage.
