About the MSc Programme

This is a stream of the MSc International Health Policy programme. In both streams, you will examine important health policy issues through the application of basic health policy and economic principles. You will also analyse current and emerging health care problems and the range of health policies being developed to meet them internationally. The MSc International Health Policy (Health Economics) programme stream will allow you to further concentrate on health economics analysis.

The programme is offered by the Department of Health Policy, which carries out impactful health and social care research, influences and informs national and global policy-making and implementation. The programme offers an international perspective, with international faculty in many courses. You will also benefit from contact with research staff in LSE Health, including specialists in health economics, public health, social care, European health care reform and behavioural public policy.

The Health Economics specialist stream develops your skills in advanced health economics, health care economic evaluation, applied health econometrics, and performance measurement. You learn how to develop solutions to key health policy issues using advanced economic principles.

You may be able to undertake an internship with a major international or governmental organisation, company or academic institution as part of your overall student assessment.

This programme will prepare you for a career in a range of fields, including in health administration, health management, government departments or agencies, consultancies, international organisations or the commercial health sector; as well as for a career in research or for further study.

Graduate Destinations

Professional destinations after completing the degree include consultancies, pharmaceutical companies, health services, international organisations, government departments and agencies and NGOs as well as employment in research or further study for a PhD.
