About the course

The International Master's Degree in Electro acoustics (IMDEA) offers students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals in electro acoustics and in relating fields. The program offers a specialized education in:

• Electro acoustics

• Mechanics and materials

• Transducers (loudspeakers, microphones)

• Acoustic loads and acoustic radiation

Entry Requirements

Admission is open to students holding at least a Bachelor's degree in electronics or acoustics or to students holding a BSc including training modules in solid mechanics, sound and vibrations, signal processing, acoustics, electronics (at least analog E.), programming.

Applicants must follow our 3-step admission procedure, detailed on the IMDEA website. Applicants are also expected to read the prerequisite skill requirements very carefully.

Our program is taught in English only. Non-native English speakers must therefore prove English proficiency (TOEIC Test Level B2 -or equivalent- required) by providing official supporting documents.

Where is Le Mans Université



The IMDEA scholarship program is granted by the EMV Foundation, partner of the “Le Mans Université”, in Le Mans, France.

Scholarship winners receive the necessary financial support to pursue their studies within the IMDEA at the Le Mans Université.

Each academic year, 4 scholarships are awarded (2 in Master1 and 2 in Master2) by the IMDEA selection committee. Recipients are chosen among all the applications received before the deadline.

The annual amount of the IMDEA scholarship is 7000€ per student and per academic year.

Selection is based on the 3 following criteria:

- academic excellence (overall Bachelor grade and scientific test grade),
- motivation
- financial resources

Any French or foreign student under 30 can apply by filling out the Scholarship application form which is included in the IMDEA application form.

The deadline is the same for both applications (see "Application procedure")

The IMDEA scholarship Terms and conditions must be signed by all applicants.

Offered by the OROSOUND Company, this € 7000 scholarship will be granted for 1 year (Master 1). Renewal in Master 2 will probably be possible under certain conditions.

Selection will be based on the same criteria as the IMDEA scholarship.

Female applicants can of course apply to both the IMDEA and the OROSOUND scholarship but can only be awarded 1 scholarship of course!

In order to improve the gender balance in IMDEA, the OROSOUND scholarship is offered each year to 2 female applicants (one in M1 / 1 in M2)!
Open to female applicants under 30, regardless of origin.

Application Procedure

Only applicants who have reached the 3rd and last step of the admission procedure can apply to a scholarship (either IMDEA or Orosound).
