Student Profile

Sebastian Whitlock

Graduated in 2021

There are many reasons why I decided to embark on the MSc Finance course at Durham University. Having previously completed a BSc in Physics at Durham in 2021, I had already experienced its professionalism, efficiency, and education of the highest quality. The unique college system ensures a very tight-knit community, providing many opportunities to engage in sports and social events making it very easy to make a huge number of friends. Whilst reading MSc Finance, I was personally very impressed with the quality of the lecturers, recourses available, and organisation of the Business School. I have gained in-depth knowledge across a wide array of financial sectors, placing me in excellent stead to enter the corporate world. The University's excellent career service team organised frequent events and talks providing the essential techniques and advice needed to secure a role within the increasingly competitive job market. From this, I have been fortunate enough to secure a role within one of the big four accountancy firms, one that I am sure is a result of the knowledge and techniques this programme has taught me!
