About the course

The Sustainable Civil and Structural Engineering MSc provides an opportunity for you to develop advanced specialist knowledge in structural engineering, understand how to address the increasing challenges for the industry and develop your skills for the working environment.

With the ever increasing environmental challenges, there is strong demand for civil and structural engineers who are practically-skilled in efficient design, green construction and sustainable development and who can play a central role in achieving sustainable adaptation to and mitigation of these challenges.

Entry Requirements

For all applicants we expect normally at least a UK 2:1 (or equivalent) undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering only. Previous relevant industry experience is a strong advantage. All applications will be considered on individual merits.

If you hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet our entry requirements, you could be eligible for a Pre-Master’s course. This is offered on campus at the University of Liverpool International College, in partnership with Kaplan International Pathways.

When I was in my home country searching for postgraduate courses, I was looking at several places such as Australia and Canada, but it was Liverpool that offered me the best option for my studies. I really liked that Liverpool is a multicultural city, and having read students’ experiences online and how beautiful they found Liverpool, I then decided that it was the best choice for me.

The lecturers have a high level of knowledge in civil Engineering. In the lectures they showed us real engineering cases, they are very patience with the international students too. At the beginning for me was difficult but they helped me a lot.

The University offers several facilities to help me with my studies, for example, the Harold Cohen Library is perfect and there is always space to study. The computer rooms are always available and they have engineer software available to allow me to do my coursework. Other facilities such as the Liverpool Guild of Students and Sports Centre means I have been able to be involved in other activities here in Liverpool too.
