Student Profile

Nick Turner

The University of Liverpool is renowned for engineering, but It wasn’t until I got here that I realised what that really meant. Liverpool is a vibrant city that offers an abundance of social and professional opportunities during and after graduation. Becoming a student at the University of Liverpool also means becoming a part of the city and it’s valuable links to industries.

Studying engineering at the University of Liverpool offers a wealth of expertise and support from the departments academic staff. Additionally, the university harbours huge resources in machinery and tooling that can be used in postgraduate projects. My project was made more enjoyable with friendly and helpful support, as well as access to resources that I needed to achieve my goals.

My lecturers were great and were a large part of the reason I enjoyed the course. They were available via email or by visiting their office where issues regarding all areas of university life could be discussed. I was pleasantly surprised to find that topics in the lectures could be guided by us and the areas of research we were interested in. I have been lucky enough to continue collaborating with some of my lecturers with the company I now work for after finishing the course.

My current company, 3D Life Prints, offered my cohort the opportunity for an industrial placement whilst at the University of Liverpool. I was fortunate enough to be taken on permanently upon the completion of my masters. For me, I feel that studying Biomedical Engineering at the University of Liverpool was a direct link to industry and allowed me step into the profession I aspired to be in.
