Entry Requirements

An academic Bachelor’s degree. Our International Students Admission’s office will verify whether a non-Dutch academic degree is equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree at a Dutch research university. All international Bachelor’s degrees are evaluated based on standards set by the NUFFIC. If your degree is assessed as less than equivalent to a 3-year Dutch research University degree, or as a bachelor from a university of applied sciences, you are most likely not eligible for admission.

- Your motivation explaining the relevance of your time in the Netherlands and at Utrecht University to your future goals
- The quality and feasibility of your financial plan

- Not hold an EU/EEA passport and not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans
- Never before have been enrolled at an educational institution in the Netherlands
- Have applied for an international master’s programme at Utrecht University

This scholarship aims to attract and retain talented students from a broad range of backgrounds, as well as stimulate and support global excellence and diversity in the UU student population.

Number of scholarships: 10-15
Available for: EU/EEA students (including Dutch students)
Scholarship amount: € 5,000 or € 10,000
The Bright Minds Fellowships are made possible by Utrecht University alumni and the Utrecht University Fund.

Eligibility

Students who hold an EU/EEA passport (including Dutch), and
have applied for a Master’s Programme at Utrecht University (only UU students can receive a Bright Minds Fellowship)
will be starting their Master’s Programme at Utrecht University in September 2018
will be working to complete their first Master’s degree
have shown academic achievement in their previous studies
bring an element of diversity to the UU community

Application Procedure

Complete the online application form before February 1.

The applications are reviewed by the Bright Minds selection committee. The committee considers:

academic achievement, as shown by grades and (if available) GRE or GMAT scores
personal background, as demonstrated by a variety of factors, including but not limited to educational experience, socio-economic background, cultural heritage, race and ethnicity
interpersonal skills, as demonstrated by extracurricular activities, community service and work experience
