The Course

This MSc is designed to meet the career needs and personal aspirations of students with a particular interest in sport and exercise science. The advantage of this research degree is that you can build a specialism in sport and exercise science, whilst having the opportunity to develop your own ideas. The programme is designed to prepare you for a career in research or academia. We currently offer the MSc by Research in a range of different subject areas, depending upon the specialist research interests of members of our staff.

How You Study

Research is an essential component of the School’s activity and it is committed to maintaining an infrastructure and intellectually stimulating environment that supports the development of the next generation of researchers.

In addition to subject-specific support from a supervisory team, you can benefit from a tailored programme of research training that allows you the opportunity to build on your existing knowledge and acquire the advanced skills and expertise needed to achieve your career aspirations.

Due to the nature of postgraduate research programmes, the vast majority of your time will be spent in independent study and research. You will have meetings with your academic supervisor, however the regularity of these may vary depending on your own individual requirements, subject area, staff availability and the stage of your programme.
