Take your knowledge of Aerospace Engineering to the next level on this specialist one-year course.

Alongside traditional aeronautical subjects such as materials, structures, aerodynamics and propulsion, you will study concepts of systems integration and flight control, essential to the production of more efficient and environmentally-friendly aircraft and aerospace systems. You will get to choose the direction your studies take by specialising further in aeromechanics or avionics.

Entry Requirements

Minimum 2:1 undergraduate honours degree in Aerospace Engineering. We will also consider your application if you have a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a significant aerospace component.

You should have high performance in mathematics modules (e.g. mathematics, advanced mathematics, engineering mathematics).

Scholarships

Criteria:

You have been in care as a looked-after child for at least 13 weeks since the age of 14.
You have a disability.
You are a carer for an ill or disabled family member.
You are a woman applying for a postgraduate taught course in the Department of Aerospace Engineering
You were/are in receipt of a Maintenance Grant as an undergraduate (if you started your undergraduate course after August 2016 you will need to provide evidence from the Student Loans Company to confirm your household income was assessed as £40,000 or less).
You are from a black and minority ethnic group.
You come from one of the most deprived areas of the country as defined by the government's IMD (Indices of Multiple Deprivation) database. If your postcode IMD value is 16,250 or less, you meet this criteria. Please note this information only covers addresses in England.

Application Procedure

Selection process:

A selection panel consisting of senior academic and professional services staff will consider your scholarship application. When making their decision, the panel member will give regard to the following:

Has the applicant provided a clear rationale for applying for an Aerospace Engineering undergraduate course at the University of Sheffield?
Has the applicant identified clearly how the scholarship will be beneficial to their student experience?
Has the applicant clearly articulated future ambitions? These goals relate to the undergraduate course they have applied for, and they involve appropriate and credible contribution from which others will benefit.
Has the applicant clearly demonstrated leadership and/or communication skills?
Has the applicant had to overcome exceptional circumstances?

Further Information:

Scholarships will be paid directly into your bank account in 2 instalments of £550 per level of study, for up to 3 years.
If you withdraw from the University part of all of the scholarship may be repayable.
If you take a period of leave of absence your scholarship may be suspended.
