The programme content provides participants with the necessary business and management knowledge to embark on successful careers in the management of global engineering and technology firms. Designed around five core themes, the programme addresses the principal engineering management challenges involved in the design, operations and management of international technology companies - Operations & Supply Chain Excellence, Analytics & "Big Data", Business & Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Industry Applications.
How will I benefit? Completion of this programme will equip participants with the key knowledge and skills as they embark on management careers in global engineering and technology firms. The programme is designed and managed by a team of faculty members in the area of engineering management, all of whom have significant managerial experience in a range of international engineering firms and sectors. Modules are delivered by experienced faculty members from UCD Engineering, UCD School of Business as well as other UCD Schools, which provides students with the conceptual and managerial perspectives vital to a successful career in engineering management.
What is the programme about? This programme is about developing the knowledge and skills needed by graduate engineers in order to pursue successful careers as engineering managers in a wide range of international industries and sectors. Designed around five key engineering management themes (Operations & Supply Chain Excellence, Analytics & "Big Data", Business & Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Industry Applications), the programme also enhances participants existing technical skills through the provision of advanced technical option modules to develop their undergraduate disciplinary knowledge base.
Programme Features The course content addresses the principal engineering management challenges involved in the design, operations and management of international technology companies. The Programme's teaching methods are highly interactive and varied. Students participate in lectures, workshops, tutorials and practical exercises. In addition, students on this programme will interact with taught graduate students on other programmes in UCD.
Where can I go? Graduates of this (MEngSc) Engineering Management programme will be equipped with the necessary skill set and knowledge, vital for embarking on managerial careers in design, operations and management of international engineering and technology firms across a broad range of sectors including energy, consumer goods, medical technology, management consulting, ICT, automotive. Graduates may also pursue further study to PhD level in Engineering Management, either in Ireland or abroad.
