About the course

Our flexible Medical Ultrasound course is designed for healthcare professionals undertaking obstetrics, gynaecology and / or abdominal ultrasound training.

Who is it for?

This course is suitable for a range of health care professionals who have experience in radiography, nursing, midwifery or other related professions.

The course enables students to achieve the academic qualifications and clinical skills needed to pursue a career in ultrasound or to develop current skills further.

Students need a clinical placement in a recognised department, to engage in a wide range of ultrasound examinations for the duration of the course.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will normally hold a BSc (hons) degree (2:1 or above) from a recognised higher education institution e.g. Radiography, Nursing, Midwifery.

Non-standard entrants will be considered on a case by case basis, subject to availability of places on the programme (early application is recommended).

A clinical placement for an average of 3 days per week in a clinical department is required. The department will need to provide a range of clinical examinations, appropriate clinical support and a named mentor who can attend mentor and assessor training at the university.
