Program Description:

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Teacher Leader: Curriculum & Instruction is a master’s degree program emphasizing curricular and instructional leadership. It is designed for teachers in preK-12 classroom settings who desire to take on leadership roles, formal and informal, within their schools. This program does not lead to an initial teaching license.

Course detail

The program consists of 30 semester hours of coursework and field-based activities designed for completion within two years, including summers. This is an online only program. Candidates complete a professional portfolio as part of their program’s exit requirements. Candidates seeking an administrative license must take additional courses upon completing the Teacher Leader M.Ed. Program to obtain their licensure goals.

The environment of preK-12 schools is complex and ever changing, and teachers with leadership skills are essential to shaping the environment into one in which students and teachers alike can succeed. The program's coursework and field activities are based on state and national standards and prepares teachers to become instructional leaders in their schools.

Entry Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; AND Undergraduate GPA of 2.7 or higher; AND GPA of 3.0 or higher on any previous graduate work; AND Miller’s Analogy Test (MAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE) test scores in the 50th percentile or higher. (Test score requirement waived if undergraduate GPA was 3.0 or higher or if applicant holds a previous master’s degree.)
