About the course

Our course will deepen and widen your knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering specialist topics.

You will study a wide range of core modules that advance the core knowledge base of the disciplines and provides the necessary and continuing development of appropriate interpersonal and transferable skills at a level that a Mechanical Engineer would be expected to have, allowing you to function in an advanced engineering environment as senior engineers and managers.

While the main focus of our course is on taught modules, you will have the opportunity to explore a specific subject in more detail through the dissertation.

Entry Requirements

You should possess at least a second class Honours degree or equivalent qualification, in a mechanical engineering or similar area from a recognised institution or an equivalent professional qualification, for MSc entry. If you have a lesser degree qualification in engineering, but have appropriate professional or industrial experience, then you may be eligible for entry to the Postgraduate Diploma. On successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma you would then be invited to join the MSc course.

Scholarships

This scholarship scheme will see £5,000 being awarded annually to one student to support academic, career and personal ambitions.

Students who have held Scottish residency for more than three years and will be studying our MSc programmes in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management or Quality Management are eligible to apply for the Dr Les Hutchison Postgraduate Scholarship.

Eligibility

Students who have held Scottish residency for more than three years and will be studying one of our selected MSc programmes in Engineering in order to be eligible to apply for the Dr Les Hutchison Postgraduate Scholarship.

Application Procedure

To apply, you are required to submit a 600 word narrative describing how the scholarship will support your academic, career and personal ambitions.
